The Teahouse serves an extensive range of delicious and fragrant, fine, whole leaf White, Green and Jasmine Chinese teas.
Further to these, with the aide of expert brewer and founder of the Canton Tea Co Jennifer Wood, we hand-pick a monthly guest tea which we invite you to sample.
For the Month of October we have chosen a black tea called Bai Lin Gong Fu
Bai Lin Gong Fu is an authentic Chinese black tea at its best, beautiful to look at and delicious to drink with smooth notes of sweet caramel.
One of the earliest black (fully-oxidised) teas ever to be produced, it is made from tiny young buds formed into tight elegant, gold-streaked curls. Because it is made from the same varietal as the white tea, Silver Needle, the buds are covered in a soft fuzz of downy hairs which are golden orange and give it the nick name of Ju Hong (Clementine Red). The liquor is reddish-orange and has distinct notes of caramel and cream so needs absolutely nothing added.
This tea has just won 3 Stars - the top award at the Guild of Fine Food 2010 Great Taste Awards. Only 70 products out of over 6,000 entries achieved this exceptional status so it is something of a rarity.
